We’re honored to share that Mindy Wilson, founder of AdvoKids and Zander’s Place, was recently featured in the News-Herald! The article dives deep into her inspiring journey—how she stepped away from a 14-year career in special education to start something even bigger: a movement for change.

After years of watching families struggle to access the support their children needed, Mindy realized something had to shift. That spark led to the creation of Zander’s Place, a nonprofit community hub for families of children with disabilities, and AdvoKids, a for-profit advocacy service that helps parents navigate the school system—especially when it comes to IEPs and 504 Plans.

“When an advocate walks into an IEP meeting, it changes everything,” Mindy told the News-Herald. “Suddenly, doors open.”

Breaking Down Barriers, One Family at a Time

From helping parents compose powerful emails to walking them through IEP paperwork, AdvoKids gives families the tools to speak up—and be heard. At the same time, Zander’s Place supports everyday needs, like finding the right therapist, connecting with adaptive sports leagues, or even helping a child get the wheelchair they need to return to school.

A Bigger Mission

Mindy’s goal is clear: to make these services accessible to every family, regardless of income. With dreams of one day seeing advocacy services covered by insurance, she and her team are building a network of support through community donations, partnerships, and grit.

“We’re changing lives,” Mindy says. “And we’re just getting started.”
